Popsicle Molds

Summer comes with extreme hotness and a cold treat would be a refresher. However it is always the best option having these treats at the comfort of your home and not having to go out to look for them whenever you get the urge.

Acquire freezer popsicle molds

Many stores offer variety of popsicle molds. Most of the cheap plastic ones are never the best option. Do not purchase popsicle molds that you end up buying wooden sticks separately. Purchase those that come with stronger sticks so that you do not end up embarrassed, disappointed or even frustrated when your yummy treat falls of from a weaker stick onto the floor.  One good type is the Tovolo which is reusable and come with its own sticks and trays so you do not need to replace them constantly. This are also quite cheap and also come with a set of different shapes and colours that are appealing especially to kids.

Decide on your Popsicle recipe

Many online sites and books like the Paletas, Inhabitors, Growing a green family or People’s Pops provide recipes for Popsicles. Look out for recipes that suit you best. Look out for excess fruits and vegetables you may work with for the start. Use summer fruits like strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, watermelon and cantaloupe and mix them with lemon or lime juice, sugar or fresh garden mint. Others flavours include bananas which go well with cinnamon, chocolate, pineapple, and coconut.

Grind it all up in the blender

Toss all your ingredients in a blender and mix until they all blend together. Ensure the mixture becomes all smooth in texture. The mixture should be in the right density to pour that is not too thick thin to run.

Pour your concoction into your Popsicle molds avoiding spillage and freeze the mixture until it solidifies.
